Happy New Year!

You know, the funny thing about blogging is that you’re a lot more successful when you actually post.  Duuuuh.

I’ve wanted to blog for a long time, but even though I went through all the basic steps for a successful blog (owning my own domain, having a killer site redesign (thanks HOLLY!) and etc.) it seems that I’ve forgotten the most basic step of all: WRITING CONTENT.

I have this weird complex about writing.  I’m afraid if my posts aren’t funny, no one will read them or come back for more when they ARE funny.  I’m afraid that the content that is here is too scattered; I’m not a craft blogger, a mommy blogger, a farm blogger etc.

The problem with this ridiculous and totally unfounded complex is that it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.  If I wait until something funny happens, or try too hard to be something I’m not (a category blogger), you guys won’t keep coming back.  You’ll sniff out the fact that I’m trying too hard or attempting to be someone/something I’m not.  Nobody wants to read that.

In summary, this isn’t as much a New Year’s resolution as it is a change in my mindset.

The reality is that 2011 was the most successful year of Growing on Goofy’s blog history!  Thank you all very much for continuing to read/visit this site.  It helps make my dream come true. 🙂  There are always going to be people out there who are funnier than I am.  But, guess what?  I’m damn funny.  I’m up to my ears in dirty diapers, corn cobs and farm animals (real AND imaginary).  My LIFE is funny.  And as long as I have you guys to keep coming back and giving a damn about what I say…I’m gonna be just fine. 🙂
